The
β-PEA, TAAR1, and Chemical Signaling.
Beta-phenethylamine, or β-PEA, is a trace amine naturally produced in the human body and an activator of TAAR1, a receptor involved in regulating chemical-messaging systems that include dopamine and norepinephrine. These systems participate in motivation, arousal, and attention, making β-PEA an ingredient with a distinct biological identity rather than another form of nicotine or caffeine.
The body also metabolizes β-PEA rapidly, particularly through the enzyme monoamine oxidase B, which makes the way it is formulated an important part of its story. KRELLA° pairs β-PEA with geranic acid and incorporates it into a layered delivery system designed around dispersion, release, and contact with the lining of the mouth.
We Brought Along Some Buddies.
Alongside β-PEA, KRELLA° contains huperzine A, which inhibits the enzyme responsible for breaking down acetylcholine, a chemical messenger involved in attention, learning, and memory. Its mechanism is separate from β-PEA’s interaction with TAAR1, giving the formulation two distinct pharmacological components rather than several ingredients described as though they all do the same thing.
Phosphatidylcholine, lipid ingredients, buffers, and porous carriers serve different purposes within the surrounding delivery system, addressing how the formulation disperses, holds together, and encounters oral tissue.
